The Apple Find My Network provides an easy, secure way to locate compatible personal items using the Apple Find My app on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or the Find Items app on Apple Watch.
The Apple Find My network provides a secure and easy way to locate your personal items using the Find My app on your Apple devices. By pairing your item with the app, you can view its location alongside your other devices signed in with the same Apple ID. If your item becomes separated from your iPhone, millions of Apple devices worldwide will detect its Bluetooth signal and securely upload its location to iCloud, allowing you to see its latest position in the Find My app. If lost, you can activate Lost Mode to display a message and your contact information to anyone who might find it. Only you can view your item’s location, as your location data and history are never stored on the item itself. Devices that relay its location remain anonymous, and all data is encrypted, ensuring that no one else, including Apple, can access your device’s location or the identities of the assisting devices. These privacy protections prevent unauthorised tracking, keeping your information secure and private. Leveraging billions of Apple devices globally, the Find My network securely and anonymously detects and relays your item’s location. With advanced encryption and strict privacy measures, you can confidently use the Find My app to easily locate your personal items while safeguarding your privacy.
If your item is separated from your iPhone, other Apple devices in the Find My network will detect the item’s Bluetooth signal and securely upload its location to iCloud. You can then view the item’s latest location in the Find My app. To protect your privacy and prevent unauthorised tracking, if a Find My network accessory separated from its owner is seen moving with you over time, you’ll be notified in one of two ways: if you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS or iPadOS 14.5 or later, Find My will send a notification to your device, and you can see the trail of your movements on the map and put the item into shutdown mode; otherwise, the accessory will emit a sound when moved. These anti-tracking features are specifically designed to discourage people from trying to track you without your knowledge. All location data is anonymous and encrypted to ensure everyone’s privacy is maintained.
